Dr Arne Sunde
PhD in molecular endocrinology
Personal Statement
He has an
MSc in biophysics and a PhD in molecular endocrinology from the Norwegian
University of Science and Technology. He worked in cancer research for many
years before going into ART in full time. He was part of the team responsible
for the first IVF-children in Norway and for the first child born after
cryopreservation of embryos in the Nordic countries
He was
appointed Professor- II in cell biology in 1994 and teaches reproductive
biology at the Faculty of medicine in Trondheim. He is an ESHRE certified
senior clinical embryologist.
He served
as a laboratory director of the ART-laboratory at St. Olav’s University
hospital in Trondheim since 1984 and was appointed Head of the Fertility Clinic
in 2006.
He is
formally one of the founders of ESHRE and served as its chairman 2003 to 2005.
He served as chairman of the Norwegian Association of Assisted Reproduction
(NOFAB) from 2006 – 2008. He is an associate editor of Human Reproduction
Update.
